While Zara’s clothes are a mix of classic investment pieces and catwalk copies, so too are its homewares, which makes for cool products that still endure even when the season moves on.
Styled in a traditional shape with back and side bars, an adjustable footrest, (chipboard) front tray with play beads and a detachable plastic wipe tray, the Kids Highchair Arianna comes in three colours - white, gray and pale blue.
What we love
Getting in and out of Zara Home’s Kids Highchair Arianna is easy. A detachable plastic leg divider adds a tiny extra element of safety.
The front tray can be lifted over to the back so that your baby can sit at the table with the family when ready.
Unlike some old-style highchairs, the comfort factor is considered with a spongy, detachable back and bottom cushion attached with simple ties. Choose from several colours including blue, pink, cerise, stone beige and purple to co-ordinate with your kitchen or dining room.
When I bought the Kids Highchair Arianna last year, the ‘in’ colour was purple and it matched various soft furnishings that I’d just given the berry treatment.
What to watch out for
The strap is a bit makeshift, just looping loosely around the back and sidebars and baby’s tummy.
With the tray removed and your baby pulled up at the table with you, there’s only the leg divider attached to a thin bar, so it does leave your baby a little exposed. I’m wary of not nipping to another room even for a moment. Then again, we do call our baby ‘Florence Fidget’ as she won’t sit still for a second, and if she’s not grabbing the back bars and twisting round or chewing the armrests to relieve her teething gums, she’s trying to lift her legs up and out. I’m not sure how safe the highchair will be when she’s able to stand up herself.
It’s a good idea to buy two cushions - one to wash and one to wear - as they don’t have a wipe clean coating, but personally it didn’t bother me at first as I liked the idea of changing colours. Although at £19.90 each it can really bump up the price on what started out as a very affordable item.
Obviously, I was really swayed by the style when I bought this but now I do wish I’d considered the negatives of the non-wipe clean cushion rather than seeing it as an extra styling tool. It can end up looking really grubby, though could so easily be put through the wash every day. It’s 100% cotton so will withstand rigorous washing but the darker colours are likely to fade a little. Still, it fits in with my shabby chic kitchen style perfectly.

The Zara Home Kids Highchair Arianna looks great in an old fashioned, nostalgic way and does the job simply without any fancy innovations. However, a cushion with wipe clean cover would have been more forward thinking.
