Annabel Karmel’s Apple, Blueberry and Banana puree

Apple, blueberry and banana puree
  • 1 large apple, peeled and chopped
  • 1 tbsp apple juice
  • 50g blueberries
  • 1 small ripe banana


  • Step 1

    Put the chopped apple into a small saucepan with the apple juice. Cover and simmer for 2 minutes. 

  • Step 2

    Add the blueberries and cook for 2 minutes.

  • Step 3

    Add the sliced banana and cook for one minute. Puree in a blender.

Blueberries are packed full of vitamin C. This magical vitamin can reduce the severity and duration of colds, kill bacteria, protect eyesight, help protect against heart disease and cancers in later life and repair collagen in skin. Blueberries contain more disease-fighting antioxidants than apples, carrots and broccoli.

In summer, try simmering a chopped ripe peach with blueberries for 2 minutes and then add the sliced banana. Cook for 1 minute, then puree in a blender.
