• 575g Ready to roll white icing
  • 1tbsp Apricot jam
  • Food colour pens (optional)
  • Chocolate icing
  • 25g Butter
  • 45g Icing sugar
  • 1tbsp Cocoa powder

For the cat, kitten and mouse

  • 1 Large chocolate swiss roll
  • 1 Tube of black writing icing
  • 2 Green Smarties
  • 6 Chocolate buttons
  • 1 Pink Smartie
  • Red liquorice laces
  • 1 Matchmaker
  • 3 Mini Swiss rolls
  • 3 Mini Smarties, green
  • 4 Mini Smarties, brown
  • Blue food colouring
  • Pink food colouring
  • Red food colouring
  • 2 Edible silver balls


  • STEP 1

    Roll out 500g (1lb) of the icing into a circle to fit the cake board. Brush the board with the warmed apricot jam. Cover the board with the icing and trim the edges. If you like, you can decorate the icing with coloured sugar art pens.

  • STEP 2

    To make the chocolate icing, put the butter into a small bowl. Sift together the icing sugar and cocoa powder and add to the butter. Beat with a wooden spoon until thoroughly mixed.
