Review:

You know when your journey is so stressful, it seems like no matter how great the destination, it won’t be worth it? That was us after two tetchy hours on a foggy motorway when we finally arrived at Eden Hall. A mood that lasted precisely three minutes. From the moment we were welcomed into the grand Victorian mansion, I knew this place would melt my stress away.

At some spas you need to splash out on lots of treatments to feel like you've got the full experience. Not Eden Hall. The whole place is designed to promote your rest and well-being, with relaxation areas including a palm conservatory and a light-filled post-treatment room with chaise lounges, overlooking the outdoor hot-tubs.

There is even a slumber lounge, a must for any knackered parent or mum-to-be (both, in my case). I didn't so much lie down on the full-body beanbag, as collapse into it with gratitude.

We enjoyed a genteel dip in the pool, and although I couldn't take advantage of the heated rooms and therapy showers, they looked so inviting, like mosaic Roman baths. A fully fitted gym and classes are available if you are feeling energetic. Lunch was included, offering a varied menu which managed to be both healthy and indulgent.

My Elemis Beautiful Bump treatment was delivered by a warm and wonderful therapist, who asked enough questions to provide a perfect bespoke treatment for my second-trimester bump, without so many you felt like you were at a midwife check-up. The whole-body massage, from scalp to feet, plus a gentle moisturise of my bump and a soothing facial, felt amazing. My husband is something of a spa sceptic, but he skipped out of his Skin IQ Facial looking delighted, with a real glow and spring in his step.

I urge you to take advantage of Eden Hall’s partnership with the beautiful gothic-style Manor Court boutique B&B, where you are welcomed by the warmest hosts I have ever encountered. Mike and Jules not only offer you a glass of bubbly, but a chat, a lift, you name it - nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are out of this world, reminiscent of a romantic French castle, and make for a truly special end to a wonderful day.
