Your pregnant body

You may have discovered some surprises at your dating scan, such as finding out you’re not expecting one but two little babies. Discovering you’re having twins (or more) can be a big shock and it’s likely to take a few weeks to get your head around everything.

Alternatively, you may be facing diagnostic tests, such as an amniocentesis, following your scan. Make sure you do lots of talking with your partner at this stage, so that you can share any fears and know what questions to ask your midwife or doctor.

One thing you might not expect from pregnancy (although you should know by now that anything can happen during this fabulous 9 month journey) is the sudden urge to fart – a lot. Windiness is a common symptom, due to the increase of the hormone progesterone, which can make digestion sluggish and lead to wind, bloating and constipation.

Now find out what you should do this week…
