Singer Lily Allen has given birth to a baby daughter. Although her spokesperson has kept quiet, Lily’s friends have been madly tweeting about the new arrival.
The news was first broken by Lily’s friend Seb Chew, who last night tweeted,“Sending out love to Lily, Sam and mini cooper...YES.”
Since then, lots of Lily’s celeb friends have been sending their love and best wishes to the couple, including pregnant Amanda Holden, who tweeted,"Massive congrats to lily and Sam! Such good news. Xxxx".
Myleene wished both Lily and Piers Morgan who has also just welcomed a baby girl (his fourth child).
But it’s not just celebs who’ve been tweeting. Harrods sent its formal best wishes (“We would like to congratulate @MrsLRCooper and Sam Cooper on the arrival of their baby girl”) while Hello Magazine and MTV also tweeted their congrats.
Lily has talked openly about her devastation following her two miscarriages. The first was in 2008, when she was pregnant with the baby of a previous boyfriend, Ed Simons from The Chemical Brothers.
Then just last November, she lost her baby she’d conceived with Sam at six months into her pregnancy.
Lily, who is married to painter and decorator Sam Cooper, ecstatically announced she was pregnant again at her wedding in June. You could just see a little pregnancy bump through her wedding dress.
She’d kept the sex of her baby a secret, apparently even from her mum. She revealed earlier this year that her mum believed she knew it would be a girl and liked to refer to the baby as ‘Betty’. Whether the baby will have Betty in her name remains to be seen…
