American mum Amber Miller decided to run the Chicago Marathon last Sunday, even though she was 39 weeks pregnant with her second child. The extraordinary mum-to-be pushed her way through the gruelling 26.2 mile race, despite having contractions near the end. Amber, 27, completed the race in 6 hours and 25 minutes.
"It was the longest day of my life. I got the OK from my doctor to run half, and my husband ran with me and supported me along the way. I ran half and walked half, that's how I finished," said Amber, reports the Daily Mail.
Amber is a dedicated marathon runner, completing the Wisconsin Marathon when she was four months pregnant. She also completed another marathon when she was four months pregnant with her first son, Caleb, now 19 months.
During the Chicago race, Amber began having contractions as the finish line drew near but still found time to stop for a sandwich on the way to the hospital!
"I thought I should probably get some food first," explained Amber.
After a seven-hour labour, Amber's baby daughter, June Audra, was born weighing 7lb 13oz.
"The race was definitely easier than labour," said Amber.
