In London with a pram? New app helps navigate the way
Gobaby has info on pushchair-friendly Tube stops and baby changing spots across the capital
A new app is available to help mums travel on the London Underground with their buggies.
It is designed for those who don’t like relying on strangers helping them lift their pram up the stairs. It also has information on where the closest baby changing facilities to each Tube station are.
Founder Jen Corlew says she was inspired to make the app after a disaster almost happened when trying to get her son, Jonah, in his pram up 56 steps in Tottenham Court Road station: “I asked a stranger for help, but then realised halfway up that the pram was facing the wrong way and my son was falling out and teetering over the concrete steps.
“It was too crowded to change direction so we continued with me trying to hold him in. Never again!”
She says that Gobaby means parents travelling on the Tube can “avoid sweaty, tearful and sometimes smelly journeys with their babies and toddlers in London”.

She got her friends to help her scout stations and locations so that she could create the app. It contains information on all underground stops, so users can easily find which are stair-free (with lift access), or which have escalators, and which have more than 10 stairs.
It also has live service updates, to help you get around faster, and contains information on nearby baby changing facilities in more than 1000 locations across London, including cafes, restaurants, libraries, museums and retailers.
Gobaby is available from the App Store and costs £1.49. An Android version will be available later this year.
