Right, given there are no independent witness statements to support this entirely crazy scenario, we have to put our hands up and admit we don't know what actually happened. But here it is as we've heard it (and brace yourself, it is bizarre).

So, a woman posted a message on a Facebook group for local people in Dartford, Kent after she was apparently sworn at and had breast milk SQUIRTED at her by a nursing mum in a park.

The woman who posted the message said that she had asked the breastfeeding mum to nurse her baby elsewhere because she was 'distracting' her husband... (er, yes, we did say this was an entirely CRAZY scenario...)

We've edited out the sweary bit, but the woman wrote:

"To the lady in Dartford park who thought it was appropriate to breastfeed her baby whilst my child and very easily distracted husband sat nearby.

More like this

'I don't think it was necessary for you to react the way you did just because I asked you to go somewhere private, telling me to f*** off and squirting me with your boobs was incredibly uncalled for. I hope you are ashamed of yourself!"

Mum squirts breastmilk at woman in park

Oh dear. Where to begin. So if it did happen, this is not OK. But then how cross or upset must the nursing mum have been to have been driven to it? What right does someone have to disturb a feeding mum and ask her to go somewhere else? (legally, none).

She was feeding her baby in a park. A public space for families. And presumably minding her own business and just getting on with it, rather than setting out to be 'distracting' to other people's husbands. (The mind boggles at this... perhaps he was trying to play Pokemon Go or completing a particularly difficult Candy Crush level and he was put off by a flash of her boobs... we somehow doubt it though).

Of course the Facebook post has attracted many, many comments - most of them telling the writer that she should be ashamed of HERSELF, not the other way round.

One woman wrote: 'I hope you're ashamed of yourself, her reaction may not have been the right way to deal with your ignorance, but she has every right to feed her child there. If it offended you that much, why didn't you move?'

Whilst another chipped in with:

'If this lady told me to stop breastfeeding my daughter and to go somewhere else I would tell her to do one!'

But for goodness sake - how has the simple, natural act of feeding a baby escalated into something so angry? There seems to be a new breastfeeding outrage story every day now - if it's not mums being thrown out of swimming pools or cafes, it's celebs getting it in the neck for sharing brelfie pics.

If this did happen, we agree that it was off to swear and waste breastmilk on the woman, but really isn't it time we all just let mums get on with feeding their babies without commenting, looking, writing 'open letters' or shaming them on social media? Hmm?
