It was inevitable that Katie Hopkins was going to (deliberately) ruffle some parenting feathers when she agreed to host a phone-in slot on LBC Radio.

The Sun columnist and outspoken businesswoman, who'd recently been lambasted for calling a 9-year-old girl with autism a t**t on Twitter, now started the phone-in by saying ADHD did not exist and she blamed it on ’rubbish parenting’.

She hadn't bargained on the response she was going to get from one furious mum, though...

"We really have to question, what are we doing?" Katie said. "Why does everything have to have a medical diagnosis? Is it that our children are getting naughtier, or are we not parenting properly?"

"You have to point the finger of blame," she continued. "That is, your mother, your father... is responsible for that behaviour. Not ADHD.

"I don’t think kids are born naughty. I think some kids are just born with bad parents."

But a furious caller, identifying herself as Lemore from Mill Hill, was quick to tell Katie she was ‘ignorant’.

Fighting back angry tears, she said: "I’ve got 3 children, 1 with ADHD. Does that make me a bad parent?

"All her behaviour, even though she’s not a bad person or a naughty person, is down to ADHD. To judge and say that they are naughty children is just unfair.

"Some days are very, very challenging but they are just normal children and want to be part of normal life… You don’t seem to understand what it’s like to have someone with ADHD in the house."

Her words obviously struck home because in a very out-of-character backtrack, Katie then said: "It takes a lot of courage to come on here and tell me I’m wrong. It’s easy for me to point the finger."

And Lemore wasn't the only parent to stand up to the controversial star: a father named Jason, who also has a child with ADHD, called in to say that, when he watched Katie on Celebrity Big Brother, he actually felt she was showing characteristics of a person with autism.

"I probably am on the spectrum," Katie responded, in a moment of candour.
