The stretch mark selfies taking over Instagram

Mums share their raw stretch mark selfies to encourage everyone to #loveyourlines

Last week, stretch marks made headlines around the world when Australian model Robyn Lawley shared a brazen selfie of her dark red marks. The new mum dubbed her stretch marks "bad ass tiger stripes" and Robyn was praised for being so real about it all.

So now we're carrying on the stretch mark love by sharing the story of #loveyourlines, the body positivity movement started by two mums that's taking Instagram by storm.

Since it was set up by the two anonymous women last year, the page has gained over 151,000 followers for its black and white portraits of women's stretch marks using the hashtag #loveyourlines.

Here are some of our favourite stories from the page…

"It's been 4 weeks. I'm still learning to love my lines."

'I spent the days leading up to vacation trying to decide if I'd wear a two piece. My decision is apparent, but my reasoning is simple - I earned every stripe adorning my body. It's a pity that having a child is a direct cause for self image issues, as opposed to being cause for an ongoing celebration. I had stretch marks before my daughter. I have more after having her. I was a divine vessel before having my daughter, & that hasn't changed now that she's here. If anything, it only affirms what is. Loving my body is a direct insult to anything that would have me think otherwise.' submission by: @bhargette

"Here is a photo of my post baby belly and my 7 week old daughter. When I was pregnant I gained all of these stretch marks straight away and I was terrified of looking in the mirror at my body I use to cry too myself every time I even went for a shower knowing my stomach was never going to look the same. I was so scared that my partner would never look at me the same or think I was sexy! Now that I have my baby girl here I can look at myself in the mirror knowing my body did an amazing thing and I am so grateful that I was able to carry her and feel her kicks in my stomach and this now makes me so happy! I still don't feel sexy and probably won't for awhile but what's that when I am healthy and I have a healthy little girl!"

"I've had stretch marks since I was a little girl. Maybe around the age of 13 I really started to notice and pick out every single one as they grew on my body. Through the years I've always been self conscious of them. At 28 weeks pregnant I still struggle with the fact that I have them but nothing compares to the miracle that's happening within me,and that's far more important than what's on the outside. Thank you baby girl."

"24 year old mum of an 2 year old little girl. At first, I hated my lines! But now I have realized there's nothing I can do about them. I have learned to accept them. Now they are my #lovelines Everyday when I look at my girl I love them more and more. Your body is not ruined, you're a goddamn tiger who earned her stripes." || #loveyourlines submission
