Kate Middleton – and royal bump – arrive in New York

It's the royal couple's first trip to Manhattan and, as they arrived at the hotel, William told staff, "It's good to be here." The Duchess will undertake a string of public engagements in the Big Apple, but her schedule is said to have been specially adjusted, allowing for 'sufficient breaks' to accommodate her pregnancy.

"The Duchess has told us that, if she is feeling up to it, she would like to join her husband at the Empire State Building on Tuesday," a royal source told the Telegraph. "Her programme has been put together to take into account for the fact that she is 5 months pregnant and had an illness for the 1st stage of her pregnancy."

Kate then wowed the crowds with her second coat, this time a black swing number from UK designers Goat. It's thought that the coat hem had been lengthened specially for Kate, so it didn't skim her thighs.

Baby girl rumours

Kate's presence over the pond is likely to site the US media into a frenzy, so we expect to hear a stream of stories, rumours and 'secrets' about her pregnancy this week.One US magazine has already set the early pace by declaring that Kate is expecting a baby girl. Oh yes, you see, that's because, says Star Magazine, Kate's younger sister Pippa, 31, has already thrown a pink baby shower for the Duchess. "There were pink-iced cupcakes, pink cocktails, and a huge white cake," a 'source' told the mag. And apparently 1-year-old Prince George was the star of the show: "He had pink icing all around his mouth, and everyone was taking photos of him."

It seems a little early to be having a baby shower to us, don't you think..?
