Columbian singer welcomes son into the world and shares his unusual name
Shakira has given birth to a bouncing baby boy!
The Colombian-born singer and her beau, Spanish footballer Gerard Piqué, welcomed a son last night in Barcelona, their first child together.
The proud new mama took to Twitter to reveal his name, Milan Piqué Mebarak, and then filled us in on the meaning on her official website.
"The name Milan (pronounced MEE-lahn), means dear, loving and gracious in Slavic; in Ancient Roman, eager and laborious; and in Sanskrit, unification," read the statement.
"Just like his father, baby Milan became a member of FC Barcelona at birth. The hospital confirmed that the couple's first child weighed approximately 6lbs 6oz, and that both mother and child are in excellent health."

This means that previous reports that Shakira had already chosen the name Biel were untrue – or the expectant mum just changed her mind!
Shakira let fans know she was headed to the hospital to give birth, tweeting the following sweet message;"I'd like to ask you all to accompany me in your prayers on this very important day of my life. Shak.”
