8 celebrity mum-shaming moments of 2017 and how they kicked back

The stars who were shamed online - and how they hit back at their critics

One thing’s for sure: if you’re a celeb (even if you’re not TBH), and you’re putting a pic of your kid on social media, someone somewhere will find fault with something in it and and take you up on it.

It’s happened more times than we can remember in 2017. Recall any of these?

The 8 biggest celeb mum-shaming moments of 2017…

1. Kim Kardahian West and that car seat photo

This pic caused a storm, because it shows little Saint in a front-facing car seat, and many parents were quick to suggest to Kim she should be using rear-facing, due to his age.

The photo was eventually deleted, but Kim decided to share what was going on in the pic to placate those who were worried about Saint’s safety.

“So, I took a photo of Saint and he was sitting forward and so they say for his age he should be rear-facing,” she began.

“But what people didn’t know is that Saint is now the weight and the height requirement to sit forward-facing.

“Saint actually weighs more than North if that is believable. It’s wild.”

2. Pink in the kitchen cooking with her kids

A cute family pic show a multi-tasking domestic goddess? Not according to shamers, who thought Pink was putting her baby in jeopardy of burns.

Luckily, other mums jumped to her defence: “Mom shaming at its best! You’re amazing Pink. Do what you do, continue being a good mother! We love you!”

3. The YouTube star called ‘too masculine’ to be pregnant

YouTube star Domonique was slammed for looking ‘too masculine’ while being pregnant with her and girlfriend Chrissy’s first baby.

She took it in her stride, though, telling the shamers: “30 weeks pregnant and PROUD! F*** society and f*** a label. My baby boy is blessed ?

“For all you closed minded people, I got pregnant by a sperm donor. Search it on YouTube. And two F*** YOUR STEREOTYPES ??? ”

Well (and very swearily) said.

4. Dan Osborne giving his 2-year-old juice in a bottle

Don’t be fooled into thinking it’s just mums who get shamed – it happens to celeb dads as well.

Just ask TOWIE’s Dan Osbourne, who discovered that when he shared this pic of his 2-year-old Ella having breakfast – including juice in a bottle.

Lots of people chided Dan for it, but he came back saying: “Nothing wrong with the bottle… and she’s 2, so to all of you commenting about a bottle, you very sad people should concentrate on your own awful lives.”

While we get that it’s not great for little ones to have juice this way (for dental reasons) – there are nice ways to say these things which some people on social media just don’t seem to get…

5. Megan Fox judged for her son’s Frozen dress

We thought Noah looked fab in his Elsa dress!

But some strangers on social media felt differently, and decided to tell A-list actress Megan Fox so in no uncertain terms.

But dad Brian Austin Green had no qualms in hitting back with this:

“My son, you know, he’s 4. And I’ve heard from some people that they don’t agree with him wearing dresses. To them I say, ‘I don’t care’.

“He’s 4, and if he wants to wear it, then he wears it. And it’s dresses or goggles or, you know, slippers, or whatever.” ✊

In the space of just a few days, US singer Jessica Simpson and actress Tori Spelling were both in trouble for sharing pictures of their young daughters wearing super-dark lippy.

7. Jenny Mollen’s comedy swaddling tutorial

Jenny’s tongue was firmly in her cheek when she posted these pics – but many people refused to see the funny side, and slammed her for putting her baby in these positions.

“That’s not funny!” said quite a few.

Though, in Jenny’s defence, plenty of mums said she’d given them a well-needed laugh: “I just peed my postpartum underpants!”

8. Julia Stiles and her baby carrier photo

Julia Stiles had been a mum for just 5 weeks when she felt the full wrath of people on social media telling her she was carrying her baby ‘all wrong’.

From the head being smothered to the fact the baby’s too young to be in a carrier at all – according to the shamers, anyway. (We actually cleared all this up, BTW.)

Julia hit back with this: “It was brought to my attention that in the previous photo I am not holding my baby correctly,” she began in a separate Instagram post.

“Wow, I didn’t expect that. What was supposed to be a shout out of products I like, suddenly becomes an invitation to comment on my baby, and my ability as a mother.

“That’s the internet for you, the carnivorous plant from “Little Shop of Horrors”.

She’s hit the nail on the head there ?
