Creating your baby’s first photo album is a magical rite of passage for any parent, but imagine if you never got the chance to do it?
Kelli Higgins, who adopted teenager Latrell in 2011, knows just that feeling.
After realising she would never have any baby photos of him to call her own, her daughter came up with an ingenious idea to have him pose for a series of ‘newborn’ shots to add to the family album.
Kelli, who is a photographer, created a cute collage of comical photos with 13-year-old Latrell in many classic baby poses, such as feet first, sleeping peacefully, and his name and date of birth printed on a beautiful white card.
The montage went live on social media with the funny caption; “Here’s my sweet not so little newborn! His name is Latrell and he weighs 112 lbs.”
The hilarious take of the traditional newborn snaps have since gone viral and earned Kelli 3,000 shares on Facebook already.
“I was very sad because I didn’t have any photos of him [as a baby],” said mum Kelli, reports People magazine.
“I think it’s really hard to have children and not know what they looked like when they were younger.”
“What I’m really excited about is there have been a lot of parents that come to me telling me that they were thinking about adopting a baby, but after seeing these photos it’s changed their mind and they want to adopt an older child.”
Kelli, who has six biological children of her own, also adopted Latrell’s sister Chanya.
