Best new toys 2014 – sneak preview

Need-to-know look at the toys that'll be on children's wishlists this year…

This year the annual Toy Fair was packed full of new innovations and much-loved favourites. The best new toys of 2014 were awarded at the show and we’ve picked out our top 5 – ones we reckon will be on every child’s most-wanted lists this year…

Pre-School Characters

The Peppa Pig Weebles Wind and Wobble Playhouse, £29.99 from Character Options is a fun new twist on a much-loved character. The wobbley figures don’t fall down while you wind the handle to move Peppa up the stairs and down the slide. Suitable for kids aged 18-months+

The LEGO CITY Police Station, £79.99 can be divided into 2, and arranged however you like. The set will include 3 police vehicles, 7 minifigures and a whole host of added accessories.

Play Sets

The Playmobil Fairy Island, £29.99 will be available from April and a beautiful, blue stone, jewellery pendant comes included. There are also a family of swans, soft-touch trees and even a unicorn.

The Learn to Pedal 3-in-1 Trike, £39.99 from Little Tikes has 3 stages to grow with your child from 18 months to 3-years-old. The adjustable parent push handle is suitable for stages 1 and 2 and the easy-to-use pedals are suitable for todders in stages 2 and 3.

Pocket Money

Lego Mixels series 1, £3. The reason this was our favourite pocket money toy is that this toy is great value. You don’t have to buy the toy ‘blind’ in a sealed mystery pack, but get to choose the character from the range you’d like. There are 3 to collect from each set and once you have all 3 you can  use all of the pieces to make a new, bigger character.
