Documenting your pregnancy through photos is a wonderful way to treasure the beginning of your baby’s journey… and to immortalise your pregnant body.
Taking naked bump photos is not for everyone – but pregnant Victoria’s Secret model Candice Swanepoel got on board with the celeb trend as a clever way to reveal her baby’s sex to her 9 million Instagram followers.
“My not so little boy!” she captioned the pic.
The happy news about Candice and her fiancé Hermann Nicoli’s pregnancy first broke in March 2016, and Candice confirmed with an Instagram post showing her hand resting on her stomach.
It’s been reported that she’s due in October 2016, which would make her 4 to 5 months along.
Now, it goes without saying that Candice is a professional model, so she’s a natural in front of the camera – and we’ve seen countless other pregnant celebs and models adopt a similar pose: Kim Kardashian-West, Kourtney Kardashian, Naya Rivera, Eva Herzigova and Ciara, just to name a few.
All of them were no doubt inspired by the classic Annie Leibovitz-shot cover of Vanity Fair in August 1991, which stars a heavily pregnant Demi Moore…
But what we REALLY want to know is if you’d ever consider a Candice-style pregnancy shoot. MFM Content Editor Tara did when she was pregnant with her daughter… and was really glad she did.
“My husband was really keen for me to take a “Demi Moore” style pic – in part to remember my pregnancy but also to show our daughter when she got older. I wasn’t keen at first but eventually he persuaded me,” says Tara.
“We have a copy of it on her nursery wall and she loves it. She’s 4 now, is totally fascinated by the photo and constantly asks about it – she just can’t get her head round the fact it’s her in my tummy! I’m so glad we did it – it’s a great memento.”
