Carey Mulligan has confirmed she’s welcomed her first child. The Suffragette actress revealed that she gave birth to her baby girl 3 weeks ago while on The Graham Norton Show on Friday.
And today, while on the red carpet in New York, Carey revealed her baby girl’s name – Evelyn.
Asked why she had chosen the name, the 30-year-old told Entertainment Tonight she “just came up with it”.
“Carey has given birth to a healthy and happy baby,” a source told E! News. “She is just enjoying this time with her family and close friends.”
The British actress, who’s been married to musician Marcus Mumford from violin-plucking folk band Mumford & Sons for 3 years, has always been quiet about her private life and we applaud her for sticking to this when it comes to her pregnancy news, too.
The 30-year-old was on the red carpet in Leicester Square last Wednesday for the premiere of her new film Suffragette. Wearing a powder purple tulle dress by Chanel Couture, Carey looked radiant.
She made her last red carpet appearance in a gorgeous oxblood Balenciaga gown at the Tony Awards in June. The voluminous gown left plenty of room upfront and didn’t reveal any hint of her shape so unsurprisingly, it was around that time her pregnancy news came to light.
