Academy Award winner Charlize Theron, 36, has reportedly adopted a baby boy named Jackson.
“Charlize Theron has adopted a child. She is the proud mom of a healthy baby boy named Jackson,” said a spokesperson for Charlize, reports US Weekly.
Jackson is said to have been born in the US and be of African-American decent, but his age has not yet been revealed.
South African born Charlize, who scooped an Oscar for her performance in the 2003 film Monster, has always been open about wanting children. After her split from her long-term boyfriend, Irish actor Stuart Townsend, last January, Charlize remained adamant that she wanted a child.
Last August Charlize told German magazine In Touch, “I want a baby. If it would happen tomorrow I would be very happy.” She said, “There are so many unwanted children on this earth and it’s our job to care for them. And if we don’t we’re doing the world a disservice.”
Charlize isn’t the first celeb to adopt. She joins the likes of Denise Richards, Sandra Bullock, Sheryl Crow, Madonna and Angelina Jolie in the celebrity adoption club.
