Mariah Carey had just given birth to twins, Monroe and Moroccan, when Child Protection Services were called following a report of drinking in her hospital room.

“It all started where a nurse suggested to my wife that if you drink a small amount of Guinness that the yeast in it improves breastfeeding. Then they said that my wife was drinking beer and all that stuff. It’s like people would do anything to conjure up a story,” Mariah’s husband Nick Cannon told Piers Morgan on his CNN Tonight show.

Child Protection Services went as far as to speak to Nick about the comment that there was alcohol in the hospital room. The new dad is also disappointed about the negative press surrounding the twins’ birth.

“When I spoke to the person from the CPS they said this was ridiculous. Man, it’s more than one incident. There have been photographers posing as many people in the hospital,” Nick explained.

Mariah, however, must have been cheered up by her Mother’s Day gift from her babies. Nick bought her a $12,000 four-carat diamond and sapphire necklace, spelling out the twins’ names.

We wonder if the gesture was not only a Mother’s Day gift, but also a ‘push present,’ similar to the one Rachel Zoe received from her husband following the birth of baby son Skylar Morrison?
