Why this Dad’s tribute to his stay-at-home girlfriend’s gone viral

She has worked her a** off all day to make sure the baby is healthy and happy...

Being a stay-at-home mum is oh-so easy, right? No work, woo hoo! You can just play with your baby all day and have lovely afternoon naps once they’ve fallen asleep. Hmmm…

ANYONE who’s EVER had a baby knows it just doesn’t go down like this, which is probably the reason dad Tony Emms’s Facebook post – detailing his fiancee’s busy day with her little boy – has been ‘liked’ more than 45,500 times on Facebook and shared almost 15,000 times.

I sometimes don’t give this woman the credit she is due, when I come from work she is always “tired” now it’s me who has…

Perhaps the reason the post has gone down SO well is because it really is, totally, brutally honest. New dad Tony, from Northumberland, admits from the off that he might be a bit slow in giving mum Charlotte the credit she deserves, saying: “When I come from work she is always “tired” – now it’s me who has been at work doing stuff all day.”

But he’s quick to admit that actually, Charlotte’s day has been pretty full on too.

“Lately I’ve been thinking what this amazing woman does while I’m out..surely she just sits with the baby and watches TV and has a chilled day right? NO is the answer…

“When I leave for work she…has to spring straight in to action to get up and get her self sorted for the hectic day she has…so gets up, baby is kicking off ’cause he is hungry but so is she, she doesn’t eat but baby does…

“Then sits and plays with him, then changed a disgusting nappy, then plays again, he falls asleep..brilliant! Mummy can have a nap – no, she doesn’t, she does the washing, cleans up baby’s toys and starts washing the pots from the night before…”

And so the post goes on, detailing all the things Charlotte does throughout the day for her little one and to keep the household going with no rest and no time to eat – and that she’ll most probably do again tomorrow and the day after that…a pretty familiar scenario to so many of us… yes?

Tony included a photo with the post, of Charlotte napping with her little boy, which we think is just gorgeous – they both look exhausted! We know it’s not best practice to co-sleep (we’re not sure how long they were like this, though, and Tony was obviously watching them as he took the pic) – but here are some co-sleeping tips here if you want them.
