The largest UK event for the learning disability community takes place in London today (Tuesday November 29), to provide parents and carers with all the information they need to help support their little ones.
The Learning Disability Today Conference, which is being held in The Business Design Centre, Islington, covers a wide range of new projects, organisations and issues relating to adults and children with learning disabilities.
As well as seminars on topics such as employment, housing and healthcare, there is also a more tailored session for parents and their children, which aims to explore the services that support children as they become adults, as well as the transition between children’s to adult services. This would be ideal for family carers, with children about to make this transition, or for those who will be making the transition in the future.
The conference is free for those with learning disabilities as well as their family carers. Families will be able to meet care and support providers, recruitment agencies, and training and education providers to name a few. They will also be able to get advice and tips.
The doors open at 9.30am for seminars starting at 10.00am, with the event finishing at 4.30pm.
