There was a real DIY feel to Lakeland’s ideas for Christmas this year. It had lots of inspiration for make-it-yourself presents (with associated kits to make them look a bit more impressive than your average sticky tape and jam jar offerings) and a back-to-basics approach for thoughtful and individual gifts.
Attractive glass bottles and jars are a great idea to buy empty and fill with your own culinary creations, or top up with sweets as a great stocking filler for the kids. Plus cardboard presentation boxes lend a sense of occasion to the festivities and you can even get an entire cardboard cake stand.
For little ones, there’s a great new cooking range tying in to the CBeebies series I Can Cook. The range is a whole bundle of cool looking cooking utensils and ideas for children as soon as they’re old enough to hold a wooden spoon. Made of brightly coloured silicon, they’re easy to hold, wash and rustle up culinary delights with!
Especially for Christmas, Lakeland has brought out a range of ideas from chefs-hat cuff links to beautiful silver jewelry stands with bird detailing for dads and mums. A particularly nifty gift for dads is the waterproof notebook that you can even write on when it’s wet. Great for a soggy golfcourse!
Our favourite child’s gift was the fab idea of combining paint with felt tips, creating far-less-mess painting fun for budding artists.
On the kitchen wizardry side of things, we were amazed by the microwaveable crisp-making machine that transformed slithers of potato into tasty crisps without any oil at all. And for lazy cooks, there’s every gadget imaginable to take the boring bits out of baking. Jamie Oliver’s even got in on the act with his range and we’re coveting the colour coded chopping boards!
