Girls polite and boys short in their requests to Santa

New research examines children’s letters to Father Christmas

A study by the University of Vaasa in Finland looked at more than 300 children’s letters to Santa to try and understand what they make of the festive season.

While little girls’ letters where found to be expressive and polite, boys on the other hand were more task orientated, writing with direct requests for presents.

The results show children are brand orientated in their letters, asking for 5 presents each, but there was also plenty of Christmas cheer in their ramblings, often offering to leave mince pies, milk and carrots for Santa and his reindeer come Christmas night.
