Having children does make us happier

Survey finds three really is the magic number when it comes to children

When you’re struggling with sleepless nights and dirty nappies, make sure you thank your lucky stars for your children, as new research has shown you’re happier when you become a parent – but only if you’re married first.

The survey from Glasgow University looked at a massive 90,000 mums and dads and found that marriages became happier with the arrival of a baby to the family.

But if you’re not hitched and just living together, the survey suggests a new baby leads to discontent between couples, and concluded the birth of a child is viewed as more of a problem to an unmarried pair or single parent, rather than a blessing.

Do you agree with the survey that kids make for happier parents? And if you’re an unmarried – and happy – parent, let us know below…
