Heidi Klum reaveals her children’s hair is a whole new challenge
Supermodel explains how she encourages her children to experiment with their curly locks
Supermodel Heidi Klum took her children for an expert consultation with US basketball player Lamar Odon’s hair stylist, to help her learn how to care for their hair.
Heidi has four children, but only eldest Leni shares Heidi's hair type. The model’s three youngest with husband Seal all have curly hair – a far cry from her straight, blonde locks.
"Having four children, with one having straight hair and three curly, it's a bit of a new world for me,” she explained in a blog for Huffington Post’s Black Voices section. “Growing up with straight hair myself, that was all I really knew how to work with. It was pretty straightforward: wash, air, dry, done.
“Henry, Johan and Lou – my three youngest – have super-beautiful locks. Their hair definitely requires a different kind of care than my daughter Leni's hair.'”
But recently, Heidi had to accept that her youngest boys wanted to cut their locks short. “I’ve let my boys' hair grow really, really long and just recently they asked me to cut off their beautiful hair,” she bemoaned. “It was funny because it was definitely harder for me in some ways, as I absolutely love their hair!”

As a compromise, Heidi took Henry and Johan to the celebrity stylist who gave the boys the Mohawks and special designs they wanted.
“I think that's really important, to allow kids to express themselves – everything from the way they dress to how they want their hair,” Heidi said. Want some inspiration for your own children? Check out these cool hairstyles celebrity girls and celebrity boys have gone for.
