“I’m a better mother since giving up GMTV”

Extra lie-ins and spending more time with her family has paid off for TV presenter Fiona Phillips

Mum of two Fiona, 48, has never felt better since giving up her seat on the GMTV sofa seven months ago. As a result, her marriage has improved to husband Martin Frizell as she isn’t ‘constantly tired,’ and she’s spending more quality time with her young sons Nathaniel, 10, and Mackenzie, 7, before bed. “At night, I used to put the children to bed and I would say to Mackenzie, ‘You’ve got five seconds to choose a book!’ Now I’ve got all the time in the world to read and talk to them,” she told New! Magazine.

Fiona left her stint on the ITV show in December 2008 after more than 15 years working for GMTV. She has been replaced by new girl, Emma Crosby.
