2004 - 2014

Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck met whilst filming Daredevil and after nine months of dating, Ben proposed.

When Jennifer and Ben married in Turks and Caicos on 29 June 2005, Jennifer was already three months pregnant. In December of the same year, Jennifer gave birth to their first daughter, Violet Anne Affleck.

Combining first-time motherhood and her acting career, Jennifer spoke out about having to breastfeed little Violet on set - whilst covered in blood, mud and dirt.

"I was covered in blood and mud and dirt, and so her little sweet pink outfits would be caked in fake blood by the time she went home. She had blood across her forehead, and you don't want to see that on a little one," admitted Jennifer.

In August 2008, after weeks of speculation around an apparent second pregnancy, Jennifer confirmed she was expecting again during a TV interview.

Five months later, in January 2009, the couple welcomed their second daughter, Seraphina Rose Elizabeth Affleck.

Being a busy working mum began to take its toll on Jennifer, who said in an interview around the time that she had two pretty extreme sides to parenting her two young daughters.

"It's about getting the kids up and fed, getting one to school, getting the other down for a nap, going to the grocery store, picking one up from school, getting the other one down for another nap. But I live my life at two extremes. I’m either a full-time stay-at-home mom or a full-time actress,” said Jennifer.

Speaking of taking her children to the grocery store, Jennifer and tiny tot Seraphina were spotted in LA shopping with big sister Violet and dad Ben. The 13-month-old toddler was even having a go at taking her first steps down the street.

In January 2010, Ben was apparently urging his wife to have another baby, but Jen (and her working mum schedule) wasn't convinced.

“Ben would like a boy, but I don’t want another baby right now. You don’t want to do that all over again, after you worked hard to get your body back," she said in an interview at the time.

However, it seems like Ben got his own way! Only a year and a few months later, the Hollywood rumour mill began speculating that Jennifer was hiding a baby bump under a loose-fitting vest that ever-so-slightly clung to her tum. However Jennifer's spokesperson denied the pregnancy rumours.

While the rumours were swirling around, Jennifer and her 5-year-old daughter Violet were spotted hand-in-hand on their way to a playdate. Unlike fellow celebrity children, Suri Cruise and Gwen Stefani's boys, Kingston and Zuma, Violet shied away from the camera, bashfully covering her face and laughing whilst the paparazzi snapped her photo.

Just two months later, Jennifer confirmed she was in fact pregnant! Though she isn't the first celeb to have to dodge celebrity pregnancy rumours...

Settling into pregnancy life once again, Ben Affleck again admitted he really wants Violet and Seraphina to have a baby brother. Though not only is Ben wishing Jennifer gives birth to a son, he is also trying his hardest to make it happen.

"His dream is to sit alongside his boy at Fenway Park and cheer on his beloved Boston Red Sox," said a source at the time.

"Old wives' tales or not, Ben was so serious about having a son, he'd massage Jen's neck and whisper, 'Think boy, think boy!'," the source added.

Jennifer has also spoken about her third pregnancy. Despite hiding her bump for weeks, the actress is now handing out free pregnancy advice!

"Find ways to be as comfortable as possible and just go with it. It's not an illness, being pregnant. I'm in the easiest part of it," said the Alias actress.

Jennifer gave birth to the couple's 3rd child in February 2012 - a baby boy named Samuel Garner Affleck. It seems Ben's boy-tactics worked!

The split: 2015 onwards

In June 2015, Ben and Jennifer announced that they'd be separating after nearly 10 years of marriage.

"After much thought and careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to divorce," said a joint statement to E! News.

"We go forward with love and friendship for one another and a commitment to co-parenting our children whose privacy we ask to be respected during this difficult time."

The couple have since been pictured together on numerous occasions, including shortly after the news broke on a family holiday in the Bahamas.

Jennifer and Ben reportedly still live under the same roof and co-parent their 3 children.

It's clear the exes still hold each other in high regard, too. In June 2016, Ben thanked Jennifer for her role in helping him become an in-demand film director.

"My wife was really instrumental and helpful in me doing a lot of that work," he told US talk show Any Given Wednesday, according to E! Online. "Because I was just so focused [on it] and it was harder to balance family and all that."

In November 2016, Ben and Jennifer were spotted taking a stroll, pictured above.

In March 2017, People reported that Ben and Jennifer were calling off their divorce and giving their relationship another try. The couple has yet to confirm or deny this rumour.
