Keira Knightley hasn’t been afraid to take maternity fashion risks during this awards season. She’s worn bright colours, tried ruffles and looked glam in florals and sequins – all while being pregnant with her first baby.
But now the mum-to-be has revealed the reason for her experimental style: she’s been struggling to dress her changing pregnancy body. Wearing a flowing purple lace Erdem dress to the 21st Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday evening, we thought Keira looked stunning, but the mum-to-be says she’s had difficulty finding a suitable style to match her disappearing waist.
“People do wear tight things when they’re pregnant. I don’t really go for that,” she told reporters. “If I had that waist [looking at actress Maria Menounos] I’d wear that. The waist has disappeared, so I can’t do that.”
Well, we love Keira’s jewel-coloured look. It’s remarkably similar to another Erdem dress she wore a couple of weeks ago. The monochrome floral version had the same neckline and ruffles, but finished mid-calf instead for a less dressy look.
But when you find something that works, it pays to buy it in a few colours and keep wearing it! It’s good to have a signature style anyway, right?
