Klay scores goal at Old Trafford with dad Wayne Rooney

The toddler joined his dad on the pitch in a mini Manchester United kit to mark the last home game of the season

If there was ever any doubt that Klay Rooney would follow in his dad’s footsteps, then this picture pretty much clears that up. Wearing an adorable mini Manchester United kit, Klay – who turns 2 on Thursday – took to the pitch with his England international dad Wayne, and scored a goal!

But don’t worry, Klay isn’t joining the squad just yet, he was allowed on the pitch during a lap of honour to mark the last home game of the season.

And if the tot looked to be in a particularly good mood, it’s probably because he’s just come back from a mini-break with his mum Coleen and brother Kai, 5. But, they weren’t jet setting off to the Caribbean as you might expect from the family who enjoyed 8 holidays abroad in 2014 – including Brazil to watch Wayne play in the World Cup. Instead, they stayed at a caravan in north Wales.

This morning, press rumours circulated that Coleen enjoyed the break so much that she’d forked out £25,000 on a caravan in Prestatyn. But the mum-of-2 took to Facebook to say while she had a lovely time, she didn’t buy a caravan. “Had a lovely time in Prestatyn at the weekend but the newspapers write some rubbish,” she wrote. “Yes I stayed in a caravan with friends and our kids on Saturday night but I haven’t bought one. I will think about it though because my kids loved it!”

And it’s not the first time Coleen has surprised us with her choice of holiday. In April, the WAG enjoyed a trip to Butlins in Skegness with her boys.

Well, if it’s good enough for Coleen…
