‘Oh the weather outside is frightful…’ Well, it’s grey, rainy and windy; certainly not the winter wonderland that Dean Martin was crooning about. Luckily for us, the Marks and Spencer Christmas press preview continued along the same cosy, nostalgic theme as we have already been spotting at lots of other of the events so far this season.
So what are the M&S Christmas colours this year? Midwinter is elegant and ice white and Candy Stripe, billed as a contemporary take on traditional New York Christmases, sticks to a red and white colour palette with lots of toy soldiers in the mix. It reminds us of the ever-popular Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
The Candy Stripe themed pieces included retro-shaped baubles in red and white stripes, as well as biscuit tins, candles and baking bowls. All of which would make great gifts. The high street giant is offering, as always, a strong selection of gifts for babies and children including a playful inflatable guitar, classic pull-along wooden duck, Tracey Beaker gift sets and a Dear Zoo game.
Food is always a hot topic at Marks & Spencer and there were a few new products that caught our eye this season. In the takeaway department, there is a sweet pre-shaped and set jelly in the shape of a snowman, which will set you back just one pound. Also, if you are feeling fed up with turkey, don’t miss the fun selection of Festive Sushi. For entertaining guests, we liked the Gingerbread Tree, set to cost £18, and the new-to-market baked cheese-dipping dishes. Don’t miss out on the fun Christmas cakes, decorated with ice skating polar bears and penguins – a definite conversation starter!
For gift ideas for mum, there is a wider selection of beauty and bath products now that Marks & Spencer is selling labelled products. We spotted some lovely Roger & Gallet body cream and Lyn Harris candle gift sets as well as some chic Autograph make up collections.
