Using her skills and experience from being the muse of Jean Paul Gaultier and her modelling stint at Louis Vuitton and Dolce & Gabanna, Madonna is about to set her sights on fashion design – for children!
The Queen of Pop Madonna – famed for her risqué stage outfits, penchant for leotards and, of course, the infamous coned bra – is set to become the latest celebrity fashion designer branching into childrenswear. The 51-year-old launched her first clothing range for H&M in 2007, with a collection of silk kimonos and bling accessories.
Using her 13-year-old daughter Lourdes as inspiration, Madonna has joined forces with US company Iconix Brand Group to create the MG Icon range. “We believe the ‘Material Girl’ will be a dynamic, exclusive brand and we look forward to working with Madonna, Lourdes and the Iconix team,” the chairman of the brand, Neil Cole, has said.
The ‘Material Girl’ range will be sold in the US store Macy’s for budget prices starting from US $12 – $40. The collection is said to be a mix of back to school apparel, footwear, handbags and jewellery.
“Joining forces with Iconix to bring my fashion ideas to consumers is very exciting for me,” Madonna has said.
We can’t wait to see what she comes up with!
