After days of keeping fans guessing on Twitter, American diva Mariah Carey and her husband Nick Cannon have finally revealed the names of their twins, a boy and a girl, who were born in Los Angeles on Saturday.
Mariah, 42, took to Twitter to encourage some guessing games by posting: “So we r bout 2 reveal the actual names and b4 we tell em 2 our friends etc. I had 2 C if any of the #lambily wanted 2 guess!!!” Followed by, “@UKAsh both begin w/M’s!!!!:)”.
With the names now disclosed on her website, the pop singer certainly hasn’t dispointed fans, with a choice that many would consider rather outrageous, even for a celebrity like Mariah.
The boy has been named Moroccan Scott Cannon and the girl, Monroe Cannon.
Describing the reasons behind their choices, a spokes person for the star has revealed that the top of their New York apartment is named the ‘Moroccan Room’ and is where Nick proposed to his wife, and Scott is Nick’s middle name as well as his grandmothers maiden name.
And their daughter is named after Hollywood movie star and style icon Marilyn Monroe, who has been an inspiration to Mariah her whole life. They chose not to give Monroe a middle name, as Mariah herself doesn’t have one either.
