Michael Jackson’s children not told who mum was

Former publicist says Prince Michael and Paris didn’t know Debbie Rowe was their mum.

Stuart Backerman, a publicist for Michael Jackson between 2002 and 2004, has reportedly said that he didn’t believe Jackson’s eldest children, Prince Michael, 12, and Paris, 11, knew Debbie Rowe was their mother at that time, reports the Telegraph.

Debbie Rowe and Jackson married in 1996. During her three-year marriage to Michael Jackson, she gave birth to Prince Michael and Paris, who are two of Jackson’s three children. Jackson’s youngest child, Prince Michael II was born to an unknown surrogate mum.

Backerman said that Debbie Rowe was known of as a relative or close friend. “The understanding in the Jackson camp was that she wasn’t known as the mother,” he said.

Debbie Rowe is possibly considering a bid to get custody of the children, after temporary guardianship was granted to Jackson’s mum, Katherine.

When Rowe and Jackson divorced, she gave up parental rights, but this was later found to be done in error, and a multi-million dollar out-of-court settlement was agreed to in 2006.

Jackson’s will intentionally omits Debbie Rowe.
