A 4-month-old baby girl was rescued yesterday from a shattered village in Japan, three days after being swept away from her parents’ arms when the tsunami struck their family home.
For three agonising days, the baby’s frantic mum and dad believed that she was lost to them forever. But as rescuers dug through wood, slate and thick mud, they saw the baby they described as a ‘tiny miracle.’
The rescue has given fresh hope to finding more survivors.
“Her discovery has put new energy into the search. We will listen, look and dig with even more diligence after this,” said a civil defence official.
The unnamed baby’s dad was then miraculously traced, and the reunited family returned to try and rebuild their family home.
