Rachel Stevens hits back at criticism for leaving her kids in the car
"I would never do anything to intentionally harm my girls, they are my life," says the singer
Would you leave your kids alone in the car for a few minutes while you popped to do some errands? That's exactly what singer Rachel Stevens did back in September last year - and her actions divided parents on social media.
While some were pretty understanding and could see why she did what she did, many more were quick to judge the singer. One posted, "You should be ashamed of yourself. Why would you put the most precious thing in the world at risk!" Another said, "She should never have done this. Totally irresponsible." However, others defended Rachel from the critics.
Now, months later, in an interview with Essentials magazine, Rachel has hit back at her haters, saying she would never dream of doing anything to hurt her daughters, Amelie, 4, and Minnie, 21 months.
She reveals, 'I found it hard when I was criticised for running out of my car to run an errand while the girls were still in it.
"Parenting is always going to split judgement and you never have all the answers. I would never do anything to intentionally harm my girls; they are my life.

"Whatever you do as a parent, you will be judged by other people. You can only do your best." A sentiment we can all agree with, right?
What does the law say?
There are no laws specifying that you can't leave your child in the car alone as such, so Rachel wasn't breaking the law - but it is an offence to leave a child alone if it places them at risk of any kind.
