A mum is celebrating her miracle baby after struggling through 14 miscarriages, a stillbirth and the death of her newborn son at just 2 weeks.
Cancer nurse Maria, 32, and partner John Foran, 35, spent 13 difficult years trying for a baby and were beginning to give up hope when Maria fell pregnant with Mia.
After so much heartbreak, it’s easy to understand how cautiously Maria and John approached the pregnancy. Maria had 92 scans and check-ups throughout her pregnancy, though they couldn’t quite believe they were to be parents until they heard newborn Mia’s first cries.
“It really is out of this world,” Maria said. “After everything we have gone through this is like a dream come true. I didn’t think it would ever happen.”
Mia was born in January after a tricky pregnancy. Maria was diagnosed with both pre-eclampsia and streptococcus B and needed daily injections to thin her blood. But baby Mia arrived, weighing 4lb 12oz, by emergency caesarean.
“I was never going to give up until I had my dream and that is exactly what Mia is. We knew she’d be the one,” Maria added.
