A hairdresser from Devon had been going to her local hospital on and off for nine months with suspected Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and gout, but nothing could have prepared her for her real diagnosis, she was nine months pregnant and about to give birth!
Belinda Waite, 21 was admitted to hospital on 6th February with pains throughout her body. At 10pm that night, doctors surprised her with the news she was three months pregnant. In fact, the staff had got it wrong, she was actually nine months pregnant and about to give birth!
Surprise baby Louise was born healthy and happy, weighing in at 8lb, 14oz.
Admitting she had no idea of the real cause of her discomfort over the last few months, Belinda was just as shocked to hear about her impending arrival as the doctors and her partner, Wayne.
“I did feel like something was moving inside me but I never considered I was pregnant and it doesn’t seem to have crossed the doctors minds,” explains Belinda. “It was obviously a huge shock but you have to get on with these things and we’re really enjoying it.”
