When Mairi Holden’s son Oscar suddenly fell ill and she rushed him to the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh – the last thing on her mind was whether she was parked in the right place.
Her son unexpectedly remained in hospital overnight and Mairi stayed at his bedside.
Thankfully he made a recovery, and they left hospital the following afternoon.
Reaching her car, Mairi was in for a nasty shock… on her car’s windscreen was not one, but TWO parking tickets.
But then she found a handwritten note and £25 next to the tickets… “Pay it then forget it happened!” it read.
A good Samaritan had saved the day!
Mairi now wants to find the stranger whose random act of kindness brightened her day to thank them properly.
She wrote on Facebook: “Would love to find out who did this! I’m still in a lovely feeling of shock!!
Please share – maybe I’ll be able to get in touch with this beautiful person!
Oscar had to stay in Sick Kids hospital, Edinburgh last night, which was really unexpected. (He’s all good now ?)
Parked outside not thinking we’d be kept in. Came out to 2 parking tickets this afternoon…
Some amazing person, don’t know who, left this note and money tucked under one of the tickets!!
I’m still overwhelmed at the kindness of it. I’ll never forget it, and if anyone has any idea of who it could have been, or recognises the writing or note paper, please let me know, I’d love to be able to thank them!
I have a pink Honda Jazz.
How unbelievably kind and thoughtful is that?”
The random act of kindness has really affected the mum and she’s now attempting to pay it forward. She’s doubled the money and put it towards fundraising for the hospital – setting up her own Just Giving page.
“I would like to see how one person’s kindness can have a huge impact on the world so many other people’s lives,” she said.
