A mum in New York is suing her daughter’s former nursery for failing to encourage her chances of getting into an Ivy League university – even though she’s only 4 years old.
Angry mum Nicole Imprescia has filed a lawsuit against the Upper East Side nursery school, requesting a refund of the $19,000 fees she paid upfront for a year’s schooling.
Nicole chose the nursery after reading its prospectus, which claimed “getting a child into the Ivy League starts in nursery school.” According to Nicole, the school promised to “prepare her daughter for the exam required for admission to nearly all elite private elementary schools”.
But Nicole was surprised to find her daughter Lucia spending too much time with younger children and took her out of the school after just three weeks. “It became obvious that those promises were a complete fraud,” the cross mum said. “The school proved not to be a school at all but just one big playroom.”
The school is now refusing to refund Nicole her year’s fees. Its lawyer has expressed his “surprise and disappointment” that Nicole was unhappy with the service but explained places at the school were highly sought after and it has a no-refund policy.
Talk about pushy parenting!
