Mum who gave baby back now expecting twins

Parents involved in tragic IVF mix-up are having twins

When Carolyn and Sean Savage wanted a fourth child, they went through IVF. However, an error made by the clinic meant that Carolyn was wrongly implanted with another couple’s egg. Once the mistake was revealed, Carolyn had to make the heartbreaking decision to give the boy, Logan, back to his biological parents as soon as he was born. But now, through a surrogate, the couple are delighted to be expecting twins.

“When we brought Logan into this world, we came to understand his life was a gift. We are humbled again as one very special woman is giving this same gift of family to us,” the couple said in a statement.

The IVF mix-up story shocked the world, as Carolyn was told early on in her pregnancy that she was carrying the wrong baby. Logan is now 2, and he is still very much loved by the woman who gave birth to him.

“He is their son, but he will always be my baby,” Carolyn had previously said.

The couple already have three children, Drew, Ryan and Mary Kate. It is not known when the twins are due.
