Only half of parents give chocolate at Easter, says new survey

Find out the top alternative gifts given by 46% of parents


For many families giving the gift of a chocolate egg or Easter bunny goes hand in hand with this important Christian celebration.


However, according to a new survey by, only half of parents give their children chocolate treats.

Interestingly, of the parents who are happy to give chocolate, mums are more likely to give in to the sweet treat than dads.

In addition, the study found that 80% of younger parents exclusively exchanged chocolate goodies, while the older generations were more likely to opt for an inedible present.

The top ranked alternative Easter presents in order of popularity were money (30%); toys (22%); personalised gifts such as egg cups and mugs (20%) and books (17%).
