Annabel Karmel's Family Cooking app is the sequel to her award-winning baby and toddler feeding app. This time, Annabel has created an app with recipes for all of the family.

It features more than 120 simple meals such as paella, aubergine parmigiana, oriental chicken balls and chicken and sweetcorn quesadilla, and has just launched for iPhone and iPad.

The recipes are split into:

  • everyday meals
  • quick & easy
  • prep ahead
  • lunchboxes and light snacks
  • sweets
  • weekend get-togethers

What we really like is that it’s not just a straight recipe app. instead it has special features such as the meal planner, recipe notes (so you can personalise recipes) and a kitchen timer, which you can set for each stage of the recipe. And it's voice activated, so you don't have to swipe with greasy fingers to get the next step.

Best of all is the Kids Rule the Kitchen section. It's a special cooking course designed to help children as young as 4 to develop cooking skills, and gives them 12 cookery challenges to complete. Who knows, Junior Masterchef may beckon?

The app costs £3.99 and is available to download from the app store
