Mums and dad who skipped PE lessons are five times more likely to help their own children skip the class, too, reports the Sun.

Of the parents who owned up to avoiding PE when they were at school, a third said they’d written notes for their child to miss PE, according to the report from the charity The Cricket Foundation.

The top excuse? An upset tummy, of course! This was followed by headaches and forgetting their sports kits. Four out of 10 kids said they asked their mum and dad to lie - and to come up with the excuse for them! Almost a quarter feigned a problem to trick their parents. The children were nearly twice as likely to ask mum to sign the sick note than dad. And 15% of children owned up to forging a sick note themselves.

Children said the main reasons they wanted to skip PE were bad weather and lack of sport ability. One in three girls also said they were concerned about their appearance.
