Prince George Christening: 7 godparents announced

Zara Tindall among godparents at intimate ceremony

The Christening of Prince George will take place at St James’s palace in central London today.

Ahead of the ceremony, to be performed by the Archbishop of Canterbury, three-month-old Prince George’s seven godparents have been announced.

They are: Oliver Baker, Emilia Jardine-Paterson, Earl Grosvenor, Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton, Julia Samuel, William van Cutsem and Zara Tindall.

Zara Tindall is the wife of former England rugby international Mike Tindall and is Prince William’s cousin.

Low key

Despite interested from the public and media, the christening is set to be low key.

The chapel is ‘intimate’ by royal standards, and must hold some painful memories for William. It is where the coffin of his mother, Diana, rested before her funeral.

After the Christening, celebrity photographer Jason Bell will take the official pictures. These are expected to include a historic image of the Queen and three future kings: Princes Charles, William and George all together.
