He might only be two, but Prince George has proved himself to be something of a fashion icon since his very first appearance on the steps of the Lindo Wing in that £68 GH Hurt & Son Ltd knitted shawl.
Since then, it has almost been a given that whatever outfit he’s photographed in – be that oh-so-Royal smocked rompers and knee socks, or more low-key polo shirts and shorts – will be snapped up by parents eager to replicate the tot’s style.
And while there’s no denying Prince George always looks like your archetypal, story-book Prince, there’s has perhaps been one fashion faux-pas.
Unless you are a scrub nurse in an operating theatre, there really is no need to wear a plastic, wipe clean, round-toe shoe, is there? Well apparently there is, because Amazon have reported a 1,500 per cent rise in sales of the £34.94 sandal since Prince George was spotted in his blue ones at the Beaufont Polo Club earlier this month.
Speaking to fashion trend website, WWD.com, Amazon’s head of vendor management, David Silverfield, said that ‘once again, Prince George proves there’s no age limit on being a fashion icon’.
“We’ve seen a 16-fold increase in sales of kids’ Crocband shoes at Amazon.co.uk since the photo of him wearing a pair was released,” he added.
Hmm. We think we still prefer his uber cute little Start-Rites though. Don’t you?
