Rachel Bilson gives baby girl Sleeping Beauty-inspired name
The former OC actress names her baby after character made famous in Disney movies
Rachel Bilson has given birth to her baby girl. The former OC actress and boyfriend Hayden Christensen welcomed their first child on 29 October.
"Both mother and baby are healthy and doing well," her rep told People magazine in a statement.
It appears the couple have looked to their favourite fairytale for a name for their newborn daughter. They’ve chosen Briar Rose – the name the fairies give Princess Aurora to conceal her identity and to keep her safe from the evil Maleficent in Sleeping Beauty. Although it originates from the Brothers Grimm version of the story, the name Briar Rose is more widely known as the princess's peasant name from the two Disney movies, Sleeping Beauty and Maleficent.
We think it’s a sweet name and quite a subtle reference. But nothing gets past fairytale and Disney buffs like us. We know every princess story backwards!
What do you think of the princess-in-disguise’s name? Let us know in the comments below!
