Royal baby countdown has begun

Parking bays have been suspended for the royal couple outside the hospital where Kate Middleton's baby will be born

Drivers have been banned from parking outside of the hospital Kate Middleton is due to give birth at.

A parking suspension outside the private Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington states that from 00.01 on July 1 until 23:59 on July 31, four bays will be out of use to the public.

The hospital is where Prince William was also born in 1982.

After the birth, Kate and William are expected to appear on the steps of the hospital, like Charles and Diana did.

The first official announcement will take place when a royal aide will emerge from the hospital carrying a notice of birth signed by Kate’s medical team. The notice will then be transferred to Buckingham Palace where it will be placed on an easel by a footman on the palace forecourt.
