Two-year-old smoker defeats addiction
Indonesian toddler was smoking up to 40 cigarettes a day at the height of his problem
Two-year-old Ardi Rizal, who was smoking two packs a day after developing an addiction to cigarettes, has successfully ended his smoking habit after undergoing treatment, reports the Telegraph.
Ardi left his home in the fishing village of Musi Banyuasin in July to undergo treatment for his problem in the Indonesian capital Jakarta. The commission for child protection have now confirmed that he has beaten his addiction.
“He received psychosocial therapy for one month, during which therapists kept him busy with activities and encouraged him to play with kids of the same age,” said Arist Merdeka Sirait, the child protection secretary general.
“We diverted his addiction from cigarettes to playing.”
