WAG and new mum, Danielle Lloyd, has spoken out about her postnatal depression struggle and how it led to the cancellation of her 2011 wedding.
The 25-year-old model has revealed that she felt housebound after giving birth to her first baby, a son named Archie, and even when she managed to venture outdoors, she was wracked with guilt. Talking on Daybreak’s The Lorraine Show, the WAG also admitted that PND also caused her to cancel her nuptial to Tottenham Hotspur footballer Jamie O’Hara.
“I was taking care of the baby and I wasn’t concentrating on myself. You don’t want to admit that there is anything wrong,” Danielle told Lorraine Kelly. “I was totally housebound. I didn’t want to leave the house, leave the bed, and I just felt really guilty because you’re supposed to be taking the baby out and enjoying it.
“It did cause a lot of problems in our relationship.”
However, the couple’s relationship is now back on track after deciding to concentrate on family life and put wedding plans on hold after going through couples’ counselling. “It gets you talking and we spoke about our problems and it makes us stronger,” said mum Danielle.
Danielle isn’t the first celeb mum to open up about her PND struggle – actresses Billie Piper, Brooke Shields and Gwyneth Paltrow have also previously spoken out about how they too battled the condition.
